Privacy Policy

Sitter (“we”, “us”) is operated by Grove Companies, LLC, based in Richmond, Virginia. This policy explains what information we collect from parents and babysitters who use our service, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights.

What we collect

From parents who create a Sitter account, we collect: your name, email address, mobile phone number, family name, your home address, your kids' first names and ages, your default pay rate, and a record of the babysitting events you set up.

From babysitters whose contact info you add to your roster, we collect: name, mobile phone number, optional email address, and optional notes you keep about them. Babysitters do not create accounts; their information is supplied by the parent who adds them.

From everyone, we collect a record of messages sent and received through Sitter (SMS and email), including the time, recipient, and the babysitting event each message relates to.

How we use it

We use this information solely to operate Sitter: to coordinate babysitting events on your behalf, to send SMS and email notifications about those events, to send reminders before scheduled sittings, and to administer your account. We do not use any of this information for advertising, marketing to third parties, or any purpose unrelated to running the service.

Service providers we share with

To deliver the service, we share data with a small number of third-party processors that act on our behalf:

• Twilio — sends and receives SMS messages on our behalf. Phone numbers and message content are processed by Twilio.
• Resend — sends transactional email on our behalf. Email addresses and message content are processed by Resend.
• Supabase — hosts the database that stores your account and roster data, and provides authentication.
• Vercel — hosts the Sitter web application.

These providers are bound by their own data-protection terms. We do not sell, rent, or share your information with any other party for their own purposes.

SMS messaging

We only send SMS messages to phone numbers whose owner has given explicit consent to receive them. Parents consent when they sign up and add their own number; babysitters consent when they receive their first text from Sitter and reply YES (or otherwise indicate willingness to participate).

Mobile phone numbers are never shared with third parties for marketing purposes, and they are not sold under any circumstance. They are used only to deliver the babysitting-coordination messages you have set up.

You can opt out of SMS at any time by replying STOP to any message from Sitter. We will stop sending you texts immediately. You can re-enable messages by replying START. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your carrier and plan.

Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal information from active systems within a reasonable period, subject to limited backup retention and any legal obligations to retain records.

Your rights

You can access, correct, or delete your personal information at any time by emailing hello@hellositter.app. Babysitters who do not have a Sitter account may also email us to request that their contact info be removed from any parent's roster.

Children's data

Sitter is intended for use by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. We do collect children's first names and ages, but only from parents who provide this information voluntarily so that babysitters know who they will be caring for. We do not collect any other information about children, and we do not use children's information for any purpose other than facilitating babysitting coordination.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the “last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify account holders by email.
